Horses tend to start encountering joint problems either because of bad confirmation or because we often ask them to do things they weren’t designed to do. Think of the concussive force on the joints of the front legs of a 500kg horse sailing over a jump and landing on his front feet, or my dressage horses who undertake often complicated and difficult movements. Simple lateral movements such as shoulder-in and half-pass can cause high joint stress, particularly on the hock.
Event horses and show jumpers, also suffer great stress on the hind limb joints on take off and then the entire forelimb on landing. In addition, the show jumper will be asked to jump then on landing may have a sharp turn, again placing severe stress on the nocks. Many everyday riders who compete in riding club dressage, local hunter trials or the odd clear round are putting their horse’s joints under stress as does everyday riding.
Carl Hester’s joint range is the first in its type to cater for joint and muscle support as the muscles provide the elasticity and the flexibility, whilst the joints take the impact and with wear and tear and age, both can begin to suffer affecting performance and well being. The range comprises of three products all containing key ingredients Glucosamine HCL, Chondroitin, MSM, fast working anti-oxidants and HA with added muscle building and support ingredients in an ATS form that produces results quickly.
